RootsA Poem by Vertigo Cat1111
I fell for you something like the rain fell into the parched dirt.
You coldly sank deep into my roots You reinvograted me And guided me to grow. You helped me stretch tall like a sunflower in sunlight Reaching for you But I never have Quite enough I wilted when you left Endless, cold eventide No stars shone as blazed and illuminated bright as you I began to fall in on myself and rot like those abandoned houses we dwelled inside I decided to wait for you And not go just yet The cracks in the window The light shining through Told me the sun didn't eternally set You returned After being apart for so long We know what we need now Inconsist dependency and love isn't something we allow Come heat, fire, rain, hail and snow Fear, anger and blame And the drama-hungry monsters waiting down below This time I'll hold your hand too So you too can grow My roots stretched stronger than ever Spreading through the ancient earth and old dirt Drinking in the rising tide The rain came back to tell me You'd never leave my side
