End Of The World

We'll all get to see the world end in our own way once in our life.

Everyone said they'd be okay if the world ended

They have already achieved everything

I lied and said I would be fine if the world fell apart, too

Honestly?

I wouldn't, really

'Cause I wouldn't have you as the ground cracked

And as the zombies attacked

Roof caving in because those billionares thought it'd be smart to steal those cursed artifacts

'Cause I wouldn't have you as the meteors rained and flew

But, hey the world already fell apart

That winter morning I lost you

Sometimes our whole world falls apart when we lose someone we love whether it be a romantic love or a dear friend or family. We can grief the loss for a lifetime even if the person is still alive. Great work and imagery in this short but emotional poem

There are some people who believe the world is coming to an end. I think what you're saying here and mostly near the end of the poem, is that if the world came to an end, then where would my lover be, lost! I like the use of strong words describing what it would be like, but it's a happy ending, so that's great.

I LOVE it. The title instantly pulled me in. Sometimes we say what we don't mean. Would people really be okay with the world coming to an end? Maybe some of us... those who have already experienced hell on earth. I am a fan of apocalyptic stories and movies. So your middle stanza about zombies and magical artifacts blew my mind. I could picture everything.. intense, barbaric and brief...within a few moments of screams and destruction, everything falls into silence forever.

Glad I stumbled over this poem. Thank you for sharing.
