My first poem in a while on here! Sorry, I've been gone, the site logged me out for a long time, ha. Still not sure why, but I hope it doesn't happen again

Reminds me of when I dyed my hair black when I was in a Goth punk Misfits/Danzig/Ministry phase back in high school. That was long, long, long, ago. I like how you separated each stanza with an age and feeling then ended your poem with a hopeful resolution. Good work! CD

Thank you so, so much! We all have those goth phases! I appreciate the review endlessly
I knew a barber that was quite talented, when his brothered died god told him not to cut hair. He grew out wooly and wild but he never cut another hair. I've never thought of what story my hair has told over the years but your poem gave me the opportunity to venture that alley of memory. A unique thought well expressed.

Brilliant, brilliant and BRILLIANT one my friend, for us women our hair is our crown, and how I so understand these most profound emotive words, exactly why sometimes You may cut your hair short after growing it, helping yourself to get out of a down state by making a "change". great piece in both thought and feelings.

First of all Colacat, the site has been logging everyone out. Yes, it's been misbehaving and still does. Hair is important to most women, but especially young women. Changing hair colour to reflect the emotions. I can understand that. Happens in my own household. My 20 year old granddaughter Beth does the same. Her natural shade is a fabulous deep chocolate brown with a red glint highlight. I love it, but she is forever fiddling with it. Not long ago she dyed it black, it's been various shades of brown. She's dyed the fringe a completely different hue but right now she has gone natural again. It seems to me instead of washing that man right out of your head like the song, you are growing him out. I enjoyed reading you. It's good to see you posting again.

A wonderful poem, Colacat. I like how you decided a change of hair colour is the best way to overcome sorrow. Sometimes little changes can bring about great changes in mindset and positivity eventually defeats the demons. Growing your hair out makes for an excellent metaphor for the positive mindset and self awareness that has now taken hold. Beware of dyeing your hair too much, though! You don't want it to fall out and be bald! Lol. Fine writing. 🌹
