I forgot to move on

I forgot I had a once upon a time

I forgot love never feels the way you expect

I forgot it's alway an unusal subject

I forgot that I have to build home

The snow falls

The new window of choices calls

Maybe it's not true

But maybe I should let myself acknowledge it, too

This year was hell 

So ring the church bells

But things are looking up

I'm cleaning up the old buildup

Maybe it's wrong

But it's been going on for this long

Maybe it's wrong

But it feels so strong

I don't want to keep stringing people and myself along

Sing the same old song

But

This

Feels

Different.

I thought everything was okay, back when the leaves first fell

I thought I was doing great

Doing the right thing

But I hope, deep down, these feelings never end

And that my butterfly heart mends

Can't I catch a break?

Sick of losing faith in my fate.

No, I'm sure it's nothing

But what if it's not?

Am I finally ready?

Am I finally steady?

Am I falling?

I haven't been on in a while, but I'm really hoping to come back now, and get out of my writing rut. Thank you for reading, and I hope you have a great day. I got the strong sense of new awakenings here after being in the doldrums for a while. It takes time to move on from a failed relationship. Nothing worse than jumping out of the frying pan into the fire. It's all about timing. Good to see another post from you Colacat. I missed you.

There's nothing I hate worse than people who have distinct self-righteous new years resolutions one day a year & then a few weeks later, all those good intentions are forgotten. That's why I love your narrator, who is admittedly flawed, clearly not trying to say the road ahead is well-defined, if defined at all! This is what "living in the moment" looks like. It's not a pretty laminar flow. It's jerking along with good intentions and a ton of uncertainty. Great job relating to life in a realistic way & happy new year! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Oh wow, did i ever see myself in this write.
After the first divorce, i hid away...even if i dated there was only so far i could go.
My fairy tale of "till death do us part"---died and i could not go there, ever again...the belief shattered.
this is such a good poem...
