Mark the day we met

Now my dear, don't you fret

It took a while yet

And at first you seemed a threat

But now I mark the day we met

You and I

When the painful years finally ended

When I've felt every emotion

Cried enough to make my own ocean 

And name it after you

Oh yes,

Do I have regrets

Faces I couldn't forget

But now

It's a canyon kind of feeling 

Through all the lows and highs

Every green sunrise

Stormy winter skies

My heart's reprise

No more dead butterflies

No, not with you around

A fine poem, Colacat. The poem summarises the whole gamut of emotions from the first meetings with a stranger to the blossoming and heartaches of love to the realisation that love is better with them by your side. "A canyon kind of feeling"....is a great line and we cherish those marked days that someone special entered our lives. I enjoyed the poem and the beauty of the reality within. 💛

I really like this poem. Many good lines with rich emotion and meaning behind them.

"It's a canyon kind of feeling" this line is golden.
Love doesn't seem to be any fun unless you get hurt, so that's the way many love stories portray love, like Say Anything from the 80s. This line conveyed that for me alone perfectly.
