Ending

A Poem by Vertigo Cat1111
"

When things end, feelings don't. In fact, they seem to grow stronger, sometimes.

"
I didn't think I was gonna miss you.
Surprise, I do.

Do you know what happened to me after you were all gone?
You never cared
It was just a con

I was so in love with you this time last week
I still recognize your footsteps creaks
And I think I always will

I just keep telling myself it'll be over soon.

And maybe the butterflies weren't about you.
But we had so many plans
Now it's all coming to an end

Sadly smitten with everything to lose
But maybe I can say goodbye and thank you
If I still love you, then what am I going to do?

I could have tried ignoring you, but
This love jumped out like a candle in the black

You were part of the problem
Now your out of the picture

When you sold your soul
And manipulated with your hands
Don't you understand?
You took the money
And you ran

Chasing something I shouldn't
Something that's not real
And destroying everything that is.

You have a very matter-of-fact way of stating things. Simple and to the point. I feel like I have stepped into your world that is this book of your poems and each one evokes emotions begging to be ripped from the page, yet not knowing quite how to ask for help to be pulled out. Yes, that's exactly it! I like your writing. Nice pieces. I can respect the emotion on a personal level.
Again, wonderful!

You know what they say, absence makes the heart grow fonder. So even if you initiated the ending, it doesn't mean to say you are going to get off lightly. Ending a relationship is like living with an echo. It takes time for it to fade.

Yes! That's a perfect way to put it, living with an echo. Thank you for reviewing again (:
Reading this was one of those moments when I went, "Thank God I'm not the only one feeling this way!"
You captured the feeling of a type of ending very well. Whoever has been there will nod, and say, "That is how it is!" and whoever hasn't been there can count themselves lucky.
