Sweet Silence

Sweet Silence

A Poem by Maeve
"

This was written for a contest on disabilities on a different site. Although it did not win me any prizes, I still liked it a lot. It leans towards dark and depressing. I hope you enjoy!

Sweet Silence

Sounds of Night do not bid me rest.
The crickets can play their tune, but not for me.

Sounds of Morning do not greet me.
The birds may sing but I will not hear them.

Sounds of Rain do not grace me.
The frogs may croak, but I ignore them.

Sounds of Summer, full of life,
has never warmed me.

Sounds of Fall, the leaves gently falling,
has never tickled my ears.

Sounds of Winter, the snow softly falling,
has never whispered icy sweet-nothing in my ears.

Sounds of Spring, the season of rebirth,
has never bore me sound.

Silence, that sweet nothingness,
is all I have and all I ever will.
