The Hanged Man (Upon The Tree)

The Hanged Man (Upon The Tree)

A Poem by CoffeeInfused

I wonder what the hanged man

Found upon the tree,

A sacrifice unto himself

For all the world to see

As he languished in the noose

What knowledge did he find

Slipping through the darkness

That clouded up his mind

From the spear that pierced his side

And the blood that pooled beneath

Did it scry a world in chaos

Underneath his feet?

Wolves that gnaw both sun and moon

And a serpent smote the sky,

As another gnaws the roots beneath

The tree that holds him high

Nine days cinched up by the neck,

And nine nights in misery,

No bread nor horn of mead

To soothe his agony

I wonder what the hanged man

Found within the noose?

And what secrets he brought back

After his earthly bonds were loosed
