To Remember, To Forget

To Remember, To Forget

A Poem by CoffeeInfused
"

Another about alcohol and drinking. Probably not a big surprise lol

"

Do I drink to remember,

Do I drink to forget?

I’m not really sure-

I haven’t figured that yet

Do I imbibe to chase

A distant memory sweet?

Or to burn some regret

In whiskey-soaked heat?

Endeavor to remember,

Then a few drinks only-

Lest my mind slip away

To leave me empty and lonely

But if solace I seek,

Then abide this one fact-

Enough libation

And everything goes black

So,

Am I trying to remember,

Or striving to forget?

I still don’t know,

But will soon, I bet

The tone is perfect, a bit of sarcasm with a good dose of reality. Funny - all of us have these mixed emotions about someone or something in our life. A great read!

This is so real, and honest, the style is strong, and straightforward, a good read.
