Missing You (This Time of Year)

I’ve begun to hate

This time of year

When cold creeps in

And winter nears

And I hate that I can’t

Stop the tears

From falling

 

Cause I miss the smile

Upon your face

And the way your laugh

Just made my day

And all the silly little ways

You showed your love to me

 

The way my name

Fell from your lips

The soft brush of

Your fingertips

And the way it felt

When we kissed

Was all I ever dreamed

 

It’s been so long

Since we were together

And yesterday it

Seemed like forever

But today it feels like

Only yesterday

 

We both looked forward

To the frost

Before words were said

And lines got crossed

And all we had

We both lost

Somewhere along the way

 

Now I’ve begun to hate

I've read quite a few of your poems by now and this is just another good one. It's poignant, has a nice flow to it and I like how you chose to wrap it up by means of using the same stanza to begin and finish with.. I'll read some more now!
