Forgiven

Forgiven

A Poem by CoffeeInfused
"

This may be a WIP, but it may be done, I'm not entirely sure yet

"

For every sweet lie whispered in my ear

Every shed and unshed tear

For every time you held me near

And called me dear

You are forgiven

For every sacred promise broken

And every false word that was spoken

Even now,

Your silence gives no token

No emotion

But you are forgiven

A little confusing to me over what is being forgiven - but there is an emotional undercurrent that is somewhat peaceful. I assume the first stanza is about being caught up in false affection from another, being used perhaps. The second is a little harsher - forgiveness is more for ourselves than it is for the other person. Well penned, CoffeeInfused.

The first stanza is endearing. The second is sullen. I like the oscillating emotions the poem evokes.
