What It Takes To End A LifeA Poem by CoffeeInfusedVentLike a gentle satin slice From a sharp and gleaming knife All it takes is one tender little push To quickly end a troubled life Free the blood and empty veins Pulsing life, it quickly drains
A quick report and burning lead Swiftly eases aching heads- As the softly smoking barrel Of a freshly fired gun Whispers softly and sincere “When all is said and done Just how far will you try to run?”
A tightly knotted noose That desperate fingers cannot loose; A handful of prescription pills Seeking one last final thrill; Or standing on a windswept ledge Peering off on trembling legs-
Into the abyss, how long can you gaze Until it sets your mind ablaze With feverish, frantic, frightening thoughts Pushing toward a fatal flaw Into Death’s hungry maw
But what about a battered, broken heart? Torn to pieces, strewn apart Given away in faith and hope Until love ran and did elope Leaving behind thick scars and pain Melancholy and disdain What’s the price for a tortured soul When oneself is no longer whole Left in torment and bitter strife What does it take to end a life? © 2013 CoffeeInfusedReviews
