A drabble about the woes of the modern day woodsman.
Right now Freddy is sitting in his trailer, scratching his head and holding a potato before his eyes.
He's been like this for days now, staring at that potato. He's fascinated with it. He doesn't know what to do with it.
His friends still drop by every once in a while, offering him advice and moral support, saying things like, "Still staring at that potato, Fred? Well, hang in there!" "Potatoes are my favorite vegetable!" and occasionally, "(You're supposed to eat that.)"
Fred just waves them away with an irritated grunt. He doesn't hear them, his concentration is too powerful.

He's been like this for days (now,//Imho too close to the other now, dont need it) staring at that potato. He's fascinated with it. He doesn't know what to do (with it.//could remove this too....;)

Just plant it Freddy and grow a few more potatos while the weather is good, enough that you can put some in the cold cellar and still admire just one if you want... Plant it freddy plant it.
I really connect to this piece, as I too sometimes find myself staring at things, letting my mind go and just flow with whatever comes to mind.
Other people tend not to understand it - things are as they are, why analyze them further?
It also has a twist to it - it talks about Freddy, showing his side of the story as logical, while also showing the outsider's view, making him look like a crazy person.
I really enjoyed this one.
".... Take a fish....
And a potato....
put the fish.... and the potato
in your hand (in your hand)
...
Put the potato... in the fish...
make it digest it... (hooo)
SMASH IT UP! SMASH IT UP!
This is how one makes fish cakes... This is how I make fish cakes..."
Peter Murphy of Bauhaus has solved Freddy's problem in the only Bauhaus song I'll listen to.
Very funny. I love the... mystery.
"Put it on the wall... throw it on the wall! STAMP ON THE FISH! (ala carte)"
