Free In America

Free In America

A Poem by Cody Mus.

“Free In America”

Sing a song,

Not banned for long in America;

Open a shop,

Make it to the top in America.

High as the mountain tops,

Big dreams like the pops

In America

The slow, low breeze,

Can’t keep you from what you please;

In America

The opportunity is high;

Even when the people sigh,

In America.

We’re free in America,

Lost in a marathon,

Of wealth, prosperity and life,

Of health, posterity and time.

Whether you’re poor or homeless,

Or rich in the roses,

Let yourself be free

To look up to a friend;

I’m a student who seeks a bend;

You can have it like me.

Because we’re free in America

Lost in a replica

Of the fathers before us,

Who lead the fountain of wealth

Prepared for us,

Knowing we could always be free,

In America.
