We Will Be Remembered

We Will Be Remembered

A Poem by Elizabeth Fiske
"

A poem about one of my biggest heroes; Taylor Swift...

"
just be yourself

Blonde Curls
Sweep across the world.
Singer of Love...
Watch her rise above.

Our Once Upon A Time:
A young girl lost
In a mean world.

Teach me to live,
To Believe.

Determined to be famous,
To live forever in melodies,
Both of us.

Millions of girls
Lost in the same world
Wish to be her,
To live her life.
I wonder who would survive...
Would they?
Would I?

I dream the same fate
But at this rate
I'm doomed to
An average life.
Tell me,
How is it
That you're like me
But you're not?

You're my hero.
I can't help but wonder
What is that like?

I'm just like you,
I write songs about boys,
About life,
About emotions,
But the world gives you
So much devotion...
How did you do it?

You must be special,
Of course you are...
But
How did you get so far?

Posters of you
Decorate my walls.
Your songs
Are like an endless hall
Of treasures and memories
That could last me eternally.

So is that all I've got?
I end wondering how
You did it?

No.

Take a moment,
Look into the hourglass.
What is in it?
Sand?
A Ticking Bomb?
The Past?
Future?
I see what could be;
Understand,
You help give me strength
To believe in myself.

I want to be like you,
I want to give strength too.
So many say,
"Believe in yourself!"
So I do...
I try not to complain,
For I know
Clouds pass after rain,
But I have to wonder...
Will I ever be as great as you?

But then,
In the mist of fear,
I remember you too
Have pain you hold so dear.
So,
I sit and I imagine
My future
Where I become a hero
To a little girl too...

"Let me tell you
Who I am.
First thought:
I Am Unique,
Not Ordinary.
I Am Your Unborn Child's
Role Model.
I Am The Underdog
Who Will Capture It All.
Beautiful,
Inspiring,
Gifted,
Genius,
Little Girls' Hero.

You'll See."

Those words I wrote.
Not too long ago,
Ring through my mind
And haunt my dreams,
Like a ghost.

It doesn't seem believable...
But I hold
Star Dust In My Heart.

Now,
I can explain
Why this is true...
The only thing
I really have to do
Is believe in Me.
I can achieve any
Destiny,
Fantasy,
Unreality,
Because I believe
With all my heart,
Thanks to a girl with a guitar,
And
Her words making my life
Fill with color...

Author's Note

Elizabeth Fiske
I wrote this out of my love for Taylor Swift. I've been a huge fan ever since I was 8, (which is when she first started out) and ever since then she's given me inspiration to achieve my dreams and believe in myself. If you were to ask, I could sing anyone of her songs by heart. She's one of my biggest heroes, and I believe she's one of the best role models for every little girl in the world. She's taught me to be myself despite the cruelty of others, and to stay grounded no matter how much attention I get or how many people are against me :)

I had never heard the full song "The Outside" until just now, and I really liked it. Wonderful tribute. I used to love Taylor Swift a few years ago, but I've since stopped listening to her. This makes me want to go hear some of her new songs. "How is it that you're like me, but you're not?" Those were my favorite lines.

I love this, it was a great tribute to an amazing person that you look up to. I also loved that Long Live was playing in the background. It's one of my favorite songs, since it was like a theme song for my swim team.

When you find the empowerment to believe in yourself, take it for what it's worth, bleed out the story like you've done. I'm glad you have this as an outlet, an expression.
