Our Make-Believe Home

Our Make-Believe Home

A Poem by Elizabeth Fiske
"

For Courtney Moise and all the make-believers in the world...

"

Blood stain bullets,

Thoughtless smiles,

Scratched CDs,

Melted candy,

Crayon scribbles,

Empty perfume bottles,

Dull rainbows.

I feast on unrequited dreams,
On unrequited love...

I gaze at artificial stars
In a cloudy dawn...

It's hard to have faith
When you look in the mirror
And all you see
Are empty eyes,
A shattered soul,
A worthless dream,
A meaningless face.
Slowly realizing
Your dreams won't come true;
Destiny never liked you,
But Satan does
And waits for the chance
To end your life
With one last glance
In your faceless mirror
That reminds you
That Hell exists
And it's impossibly
Worse than this.
But you don't listen;
Nothing can compare
To that evil glare,
The one you see everywhere,
From the ones who ruined your childhood,
Your life,
Not even thinking you might not survive,
They never cared,
Why would they?
They've never stared
Into the devil's eyes!
They never thought of
How their actions
Would be defined
In your mind!
B******s,
Pure blood B******s
Is the only way
I can describe them,
But there are no
Words that could
Ever describe my
Hate.

On the brick
Of all despair,
I took a chance
To get out of there.
With a scarred heart
And  hopeless dreams,
I found a world
Of make believe:
The world of poetry.
With that world
Came a queen,
The queen of
A new kind of
Prosperity.

As depression rages,
So does the pain.
I find myself locked in cages
Of endless
Shame,
Hate,
Depression.
When it hits,
When your mind
Is in endless conflict,
She creates a world;
Your new home.
Not that place
With a mother and father,
Siblings or friends,
But a world
Where love never ends;
A true home.

No words can describe
How grateful we should be
For this change of destiny
She has given us
With her
Beautiful poetry.
Some say
Our home of make believe
Is gay,
Stupid,
Retarded,
Geeky,
Insane,
But they'll never see
This evil world's new beauty
That Courtney
Has made crystal clear to me.

I wish upon a million stars,
Until I fall asleep...

My dreams are my life,
I pour my heart into every detail...

Shooting stars

 Velvet rose petals

Glitter dreams

Silver nail polish

Crystals & Diamonds

Author's Note

Elizabeth Fiske
This poem is for Courtney Moise for being an amazing person, an amazing poet, and a savior to many. Her poems speak the truth, and convey the essences of depression straight from the heart of a victim. Being a victim myself, this poem was the best I could create to show my appreciation for her creating such revealing, truthful, and inspiring art and for her accepting me, and so many others, with wide open arms and an accepting heart. Thanks Courtney :)

This took my breath away! It was beautifully penned and the format for this poem was perfect. I am glad that you wrote this poem as a tribute to Courtney as well as highlighting the issues that are all across the world. This also lifted my spirits after such a stressful day with one person sending me awful hate mail...so thanks Elizabeth for this inspiring poem!

Gratitude, relief, appreciation, total completion.."I am not afraid to walk this world alone...will you be the savior of the broken, the beaten, and the damned?" ~Understand.

This is a beautiful poem that reaches deep within the pain and through poetry turns it into light for all to see. I think Courtney is fortunate to have this written in her honor. What a great read this was full of power and pain and love.
