Voices Of The IgnorantA Poem by Elizabeth FiskeA poem for the Artist,Poets, and Believers left in this world...
Is there a lesson to learn
When surrounded by ignorance? A voice that will yell When solitary? No reason In society? Everyday, Voices of the ignorant Test my nerves. Everyday, Tears of the broken Lead me to write Words never spoken. Little children, Destroyed before Understanding what "Faith" Means... Hearts, Spill their blood Before they Know what "Love" Means... Dreams, Crushed before Understanding what "Perseverance" Means... Is there any hope For a dreamer Of the unspeakable To cope In a life of the Realistic? It seems they rule our days: People without courage, People without strength, People who have never died Inside. Where is modesty? Where is friendship? Where is love? Where are the dreamers? Where are the Weird, Creative, Beautiful, Majestic Artists, Poets, Believers? Every moon needs its stars, Every heart needs its passion, Every lover needs another... How would they live without their pair? A starless night?! A passionless heart?! A lonely lover?! Society is a hypocrite: Rejecting the insane When they're truly insane Themselves! Everyone who says, "I can get through this!" "I don't care what they say! I'm beautiful anyway!" "Your insults don't hurt me!" "My dreams are tomorrow's reality!" Are the sane ones. I think people are quick to judge When they've judge themselves to death... They're a hallow shell Full of their battered heart That they broke to the point Of no return. So, My heart may be scarred, Broken, But at least I'm not insane.
