Don't Rewrite MeA Poem by Elizabeth FiskeWanting to explore the world on your own, and wanting to follow your dreamsNo matter how much I grow, I will always be on my own. I don't need anyone to tell me Who or what I need to be. I got a good head on my shoulders, And I've checked my logic, Over and over. I don't need another opinion, I surf with the wave I'm given. Give me some slack, a break. My life is a song, The duet is done wrong. I can be anything I want, Everything I should not. So stop trying to control me. I've got my own strong knees. I don't give a damn what you say; I know me, I know who I am. And I won't give you my hand, You will just take me to where I began If you give me some room I might let you in. I have a dream,I have a plan You just have to believe, In me. So, stop trying to rewrite me. Although, No matter how much I grow, I will always be on my own.
