therapy

therapy

A Poem by Coccinellidae

It's been a month

I'm still crying

it burns

it aches

I had therapy today

she told me to let the waves of pain hit

let them wash over me

and to stop associating them with you

and what I think I lost

and to just call them what they are

Panic

Fear

Sadness

Hurt

Grief

"Walk into the pain," she said.

So I'm going to practice it

because I want to heal

She said you're narcissistic

I didn't even have to prompt her

She said you have no idea who you are

what you want

you've worn a mask all your life

you married yourself so you will only ever

have to rely on

yourself

She said that's sad.

I am starting to agree.

She said what you showed me, you realized wasn't sustainable

because it wasn't real

It helps hearing her say it

undressing the beautiful cloaks I covered you in

I cannot wait until I have the clarity

the clarity you asked me for repeatedly

but never gave to me

Author's Note

Coccinellidae
Honestly this was a one shot deal - no revisions, no major thought or grand plan to the thing. I wonder if it will even make sense to an outsider. Feedback is welcomed.

It makes perfect sense - the first time through. We give so much and tie so much of our selves into our perception of the one we love.

Thank you so much for the feedback and for relating. Glad it makes sense :)
not much to say ... it's raw it's honest
and that's what hurts so much about an ending that's not
