I'm proud to call myself a writer :) A writer knows exactly what I'm talking about here.
When you are writing, you are painting a picture Making the words in your head more than a whisper Putting a scene in someone's head Saying things formerly left unsaid You are creating a completely new world Letting your imagination come unfurled Your mind is in a better place It's like you're floating in outer space You have something to pour your heart into Your writing telling what is really true It's when you let yourself go Writing or typing, letting the words flow Writing something that touches the soul Where the writing is the one in control Only a writer could understand The real meaning of a pen in your hand Let yourself take the notebook off that shelf Let the writing save you from yourself
You nailed this idea perfectly! Very relatable. And read like a charm. The only thing I really see is that the word "yourself" is used in two lines in a row at the end. Perhaps that was intentional, but it sounds a little repetitive. I'm sure you did it to preserve the flow, but maybe that's something you could play with a little. Overall, fantastic job!
the rhyme scheme and construction of this poem is awesome, you explained why many of us pick up the pen, this is an ode to every writer that expressed something from inside themselves, amazing.
"You are creating a completely new world
Letting your imagination come unfurled"
Probably the best line of the poem which isn't saying a lot for it.
1) Forced rhyme; it's seriously ruining the beauty of the poem.
2) Nothing exceptional; It's perfectly traditional...doesn't seem inspired.
