Everyone Know God with a Gun in Their Mouth

Everyone Know God with a Gun in Their Mouth

A Poem by Judas Hammer
"

Since I moved to LA everyone one believes in something new. I once argued with a filmmaker who said there was no God, he believed in energy. This is for all the people believing in everything--

"

Everyone Knows God with a Gun in their Mouth

Judas wept.

The C**k crowed three times.

The funeral bell chimed.

He said he was Catholic.

Everyone laughed and said he was sick.

For these people who followed the man with the funny hat.

Had three Gods.

Told sins to each other

and worshipped Jesus mother.

Then he said he was Agnostic.

 He believed

There was a force was higher.

But his belief in a quote “UN” quote God he would retire.

He said he worshipped Bubba, the chubby little Indian price.

Since India was mostly Hindu I guess they have not seen him since.

He called to Jehovah.

Kirishna.

Did a stint with Kabala.

Was at peace with the Transcendentalist.

Then L Ron and the Scientologists.

Then with it all he got really pissed.

“He said forget it all”

“I’m an Atheist”

For this was a thrill.

He would always resign.

That we were not created from Perfect design.

He had such a thrill,

when he would fight to take God of the dollar bill.

“Take god out of everything”

He would shout and sing.

Well one faithful night.

While walking on Main street going south,

he was thrown to the ground and had a Desert Eagle stuck in is mouth.

Guess whose name he called out.

I started out doing rhyming poetry. I used to battle in ciphers. a friend suggest non rhyming because he thought I was hiding. I fell in love with Non Rhyming poetry. I am going to post my older stuff up revisiting the form I started with.

Krishna is spelled correct, it's a religious movement after Hare Krishna. If some find "Chubby little Indian Prince" insulting: I'm sure they will recover, it was meant with not harm. Thanks for suggestions, you have the makings of a nice poem.

Of course it did not upset me, thats what the forum is for. Suggestions noted

So true, whenever I hear some exclaim "Jesus" I advise them to call on someone they know for help. A very good point you make here...know one really believes till they are under the gun.

Good job! I liked it a lot, but I noticed one error, Line 14 states "price" instead of "prince", which I believe is what you were going to put there. It's nothing major, I just happened to notice because it broke the rhyme. I like how you showed that so many people cling to silly things without any genuine conviction. Mostly with the overtly and imperialistically religious of any faith; they have to force others to agree so they feel better about their own bullet hole ridden faith. I think everyone should make a daily effort to disprove their own convictions, then they know they are for real. Very good, I like it from a rhythm, rhyme, and a commentary perspective.

Wow.
The title really caught my eye and with the ending, it leaves the question - if you can really assume that calling out a name that has been used in many common phrases (like omg or jeez) that need not necessarily have anything to do with stating a confession - what that kind of faith can be worth? If I really believe something, then not just because I am in an extreme situation and clinging to anything that promises any kind of help. But too often people look for a way out of hopeless situations. Willing to do anything to save themselves, I suppose most would stop sticking up for their beliefs.
I have to say I strongly disagree with TheSweet. It is not atheists trying to recruite followers on the street, handing out brochures, standing at corners, putting up stalls in the street. I find it quite justified to demand the removal of religious symbols, and it's not only atheists. With today's multicultural societies, it pretty much impossible to put up symbols for every religion, just like not every single one is mentioned here, and if it is not possible to do that, than it is only "fair" to remove any from public places at least.
Great write reflecting on an interesting topic ironically.
