Lee Marvin Sunglasses

Lee Marvin Sunglasses

We are all Blinded by the light!

Lee Marvin Sunglasses

Who are we?

With our local sports teams and favorite color?

We are the ones blinded by the

Bright light- ambition

It fries our pupils

Reaching the back of our skulls

Who are we with our lottery tickets?

And abs rollers?

Trying to be rich and appealing

We want it all

We are blinded by the light

Called vanity

Who are we?

With our pre kindergarten and Japanese instructed

Four years olds

Educating- the very youth that will

Destroy us

They will re open the ovens and

Burn us all

They will see the savages whom raised them

And wipe them from the face of the semi livable planet Earth

We are the ones blinded by the light

Of arrogance

It melts our retnas into pools of plasma

Who are we?

With our fast food chains

Reality TV

Our popularity contest president?

We judge all those

Who attempt greatness?

Feed them to the lions called

The general public

We laugh as they cry

As they walk back to their 5 star hotel

Rooms

Ready to end it all

We are blinded by the light

The light of Lucifer

The lord of light

I pray every night for sunglasses

The tough ones

The ones lee Marvin used to wear.

Add the sunglasses with Telly's lollipop & that would be perfect! Seriously, the public acts like a spoiled child, never satisfied with what they have. Loving to watch "real drama" as it happens. We have the ability to achieve our goals without the latest trinket, I agree & applaud this.

Stunning, an excellent indictment of American culture from a Doors-like perspective. I felt like I was reading and listening to Morrison.

Dman right Lee was. I laughed throughout the poem at the irony, the wit and the insight. You have a skill to cut into the BS, twist the knife and have a good ferret about. Long may you continue.

I love you're raw exposure and criticism of society and all it's faults.
I totally agree with it all! Good Job!! Nice piece.

An intriguing weave of satirical flippancy and the oh-too-real, evoking a magnitude bordering disgusted resignation concurrent with the gleeful fascination of the wide-eyed horror of an ingenue in the silent movies. We really are far too full of ourselves as a people and nation. Perfect analogy

lol, can't say I ever put this on my prayer list. This poem had many clever analogies. I enjoyed it very much. Thanks for the RR!
