Lee Marvin Sunglasses

Lee Marvin Sunglasses

A Poem by Judas Hammer
"

We are all Blinded by the light!

"

Lee Marvin Sunglasses

Who are we?

With our local sports teams and favorite color?

We are the ones blinded by the

Bright light- ambition

It fries our pupils

Reaching the back of our skulls

Who are we with our lottery tickets?

And abs rollers?

Trying to be rich and appealing

We want it all

We are blinded by the light

Called vanity

Who are we?

With our pre kindergarten and Japanese instructed

Four years olds

Educating- the very youth that will

Destroy us

They will re open the ovens and

Burn us all

They will see the savages whom raised them

And wipe them from the face of the semi livable planet Earth

We are the ones blinded by the light

Of arrogance

It melts our retnas into pools of plasma

Who are we?

With our fast food chains

Reality TV

Our popularity contest president?

We judge all those

Who attempt greatness?

Feed them to the lions called

The general public

We laugh as they cry

As they walk back to their 5 star hotel

Rooms

Ready to end it all

We are blinded by the light

The light of Lucifer

The lord of light

I pray every night for sunglasses

The tough ones

The ones lee Marvin used to wear.

"You spend the first forty years of your life trying to get in this f*****g business, and the next forty years trying to get out. And then when you're making the bread, who needs it?" - Lee Marvin

Love the satire - Cynical view of the world and understandably so in this context. So what do we do about it? All wear the shades, man....but not so dark that we're blinded to the good light, too.

"To dream the impossible dream..." makes nice echoes in the background while walking the shattered coastline and finding pieces of the "Statue Of Liberty" liberally (pun-intended) spread throughout the visible distance. You've the right to condemn as you like... other people - and perhaps even YOU - paid the price to earn it.

Each of us has the right to stand upon the gallows of our choice wearing the most awesome shades we can acquire... I hope when the "trap" opens its to a better place - but ya never know... ya never know.

I have no clue who Lee Marvin is, but I believe I get the meaning.

so damn good, searing in its questioning derision. Made me sneer a few times!

"We are blinded by the light
The light of Lucifer
The lord of light
I pray every night for sunglasses"

That part really ties it all together. A good commentary on modern day, western life. Cool.
