The Fall

The Fall

A Poem by Cobblestone Traveler

Your stony strength was once a sight to behold
Before the scathing hatred took precedence
Allowing it to desecrate your temple
Electric erosion causing cracks through the pillars

Even granite is porous; your walls absorb much
The chatter of scandals and supposed trickery
The truth now irrelevant, you cling to your perception
Pulsating louder than the grinding of your teeth

So loud it drowns out the swiftly accused
Denying all chances of a proper defense
You refuse to seek counsel, you will not reinforce
Rejecting closure for renovation and repair

You insist on caving in and I have no choice
But to take cover from imploding demolition of self
