Redefining Reality

Redefining Reality

A Poem by Cobblestone Traveler
"

Arising from the ashes of abuse.

"
Puzzling pressure prompted by your presence
Haunting haze, too heavy and hot
Too thick for thought.

Demons damned my defenses to the dark
Causing the cranium to crystallize
All awareness to anesthetize.

Repeated requests for reason and respect
Yet you yelled year after year
Taking tear after tear.

Manipulated and malnourished my mentality
Rewriting reality at your whim
Pinning me as psychotic again.
In a moment of mournful misery
Felt an urge to uproot my universe
Could I choose to change my course?

Fatigued, fighting to forget Forever
Straining the senses to stabilize the shaking
To brace for breaking.

I'm removing your raging reign
Vaporizing your violent vice
Preparing for paradise.

I'll accept the aching awakening
I'll give a grant to the grieving grey
Welcome waterfalls to wash this away.

Overcoming my own obstacles
Seeking strength to survive
To arise, awake and alive.

Portraying a message in this format was challenging. But I had fun experimenting. Hope you enjoy!

Thank you for taking the time to read and review.
I'm amazed by the selection of your words and how they all come together to portray an unfair relationship where one is left to pick up the pieces and rise in defiance.

Thank you very much!
terrific alliteration adds to the meaning...the echoes of the past sometimes haunt us so much, it is hard to engage our gears to move on enough to love again.

nicely done.

I enjoyed this a lot. Had the feeling of triumph, escaping the darkness and pain and abuse, to rise up again like the phoenix. You did a fantastic job on this write.

Thank you so much for your kind words! I really appreciate it.
Very emotional and poetic! Well expressed.
"Fighting to forget forever," nice line.
First one would have to understand the difference between time indefinite and forever. But then how could one forget it? Again, interesting line!

Affirmative!
Wow! This is a very dense poem. I mean it is heavy and dark, but ends in hope. I love the rhythm and the general feel of the poem. Beautifully written!
