And It Ravaged On

And It Ravaged On

A Poem by Cobblestone Traveler
"

Fire can be so cold.

"
Flames lick the corners of the earth
Its screams rage in every direction
Breaking down. melting down
Falling into chaos and destruction

Life has no purpose
The roots below are dead
Breath is irrelevant
Nothing will ever grow again

Can we somehow get above it?
Can we escape this hell?
Any promise of peace
Is just an empty shell

Because even above the fire
We will be scorched
So is it worth it to run
When relief comes with the torch?

My first thought was the massive fires in California ...erasing all in its path. Valentine

Isn't fire interesting?

It's destructive. No doubt, but it's also necessary. The sun for instance.

Great poem. I've been writing about fire too, and your words are so true.

Thank you for taking the time to read and review. Indeed, fire is a fascinating force.
I love the power of the fire compared to the helplessness of the questioner.
What a joy to read and imagine.

Thank you so much!
This is a very beautifully written poem. Depressing yet true. Life is becoming a hell because of the attitude of man and the only way of escaping from this torture is to "get relief with the torch"

I appreciate the review. I'm very glad you liked it!
How this fire holds such destruction and darkness. It seems the flames came in winter. Powerful words.
