The Inner EmeraldA Poem by Cobblestone TravelerA woman sorts through her feelings as she strives to be at peace with never being wanted. You sigh and smile happily I see your stare; what a loving gaze! But wait...it's not meant for me I'm transparent to your cobalt rays You can blame you? She's made of gold No shrouded past, no old mistakes No cancerous illness to behold The perfect figure to embrace I had hoped. But I knew I just thought-doesn't matter You sure you don't-of course not Not with the way you look at her My inner emerald aches and burns It glows with stunning light Though this hidden anger churns I care too much to fight I will wail when you can't hear Use my ghostliness to fly High above where you can't see So I can hang my head and cry And I know I shouldn't feed it My mind is giving me the truth I don't want it, I don't need it Then why am I wanting and needing you? © 2016 Cobblestone Traveler |
