Sinking Sand

Sinking Sand

A Poem by Viccy Rogers

A pain so deep, it drowns you
Like sinking sand, it surrounds you
A nothingness so bleak and bland
That no one else could understand

The torture you abide by
Get swallowed by, untied by
Unravelled, unwound, suffocated
Permanently exasperated

A longing just to feel relief
Or something, anything like belief
An armband floating in the ocean
A breath at last, at last emotion

A tingling where before was numb
The smallest barrier overcome
A sign from somewhere to carry on
A sign from somewhere
Before you're gone
