![]() Look Who Pranked The Farm Dog! The Adventures Of Jake, Willard and WinstonA Story by Cookie![]() Our trio gets revenge in the mean farm dog that pranked them yesterday.![]()
Jake, Willard and Winston have gone on a trip to the farm with their people. They wake up early and make a plan for the day. Willard is his usual self. You know how little dogs are always bouncing around like someone spiked their water bowl with jet fuel. Today he was especially annoying being in a new place and all. “Let’s go look around! There’s got to be fun stuff to do here somewhere!” Willard said continuously yapping.
Jake responded, “I’m sure there is and we’ll get there soon enough, relax. We need to stay away from the farm dog. I don’t think he likes us much.” Winston wiping the sleep from his eyes and yawning says, “I agree. That was a dirty trick.” Winston was referring to the previous day's events. The farm dog and the pig had tricked them into entering the bull’s corral and it didn’t go so well. “Let’s eat and we’ll go do some more exploring.” Jake said, “Yap, yap. I can’t wait!” Willard said trying to not pee on himself from the excitement. The trio made their way out into the back yard where all the farm animals were. They wanted to meet everyone they could. They walked around behind the barn and saw a goat casually leaning on a tree. He had a piece of straw in his mouth picking his teeth. “Hey!” The goat said to the boys, “Listen. Stay away from that farm dog. He’s not a nice guy.” Jake was amazed! He thought none of the other animals could speak dog. “The farm dog told us there were no other animals here but the pig could speak dog.” ”Of course he did. We all learned as soon as he came here he was a bad apple. We pretend we can’t understand him so we don’t end up on the wrong end of one of his dirty tricks. He likes to film them and put them on YouTube.” The goat explained. “Really? That’s awful.” Winston said. “We’ll keep your secret won’t we guys?” Willard said to the others. They all nodded in agreement. The goat said, “I saw the prank he pulled on you yesterday. Sorry but that was pretty funny! I don’t know why the pig hangs out with that farm dog. At least he keeps him out of everyone else’s hair.” With that, Jake,Willard and Winston thanked the goat and continued on their way to exploring. They made their way to the edge of the pasture and saw the biggest lake they had ever seen. It was really just a small fish pond but they were city dogs and had no frame of reference. Jake and Willard ran towards the pond and jumped in splashing water everywhere. Winston was a bit more reserved. He found a nice spot in the shade under an apple tree and got comfortable. Jake and Willard spent the whole afternoon in the pond. It was the first time they had ever played in one. There was that big pot hole over on Pike Street but it couldn’t come close to this. Winston finally spoke up and told the other two “We should be heading back before our people think we ran away.” They decided to walk the dirt road back to the farm house. Up ahead was a cloud of dust rolling towards them. They stopped and watched closely. Suddenly, over the top of the hill they saw the dog catcher’s van. “Oh no! Jake exclaimed! “Somebody ratted us out, how did he know we were here!” The three ran through the bushes that grew along the fence line and back into the pasture. The truth is the dog catcher didn’t know it was them. He was just on his way home from work.” “What are we going to do now?” Willard asked. “We’ll just stay away from the road and he might not see us.” Winston said. “I’ll bet that farm dog had something to do with this!” Jake said in an angry voice. “That does it! No more Mr nice dog!” Jake, Willard and Winston began to devise a plan to fix that farm dog. They went back to the back yard looking for the goat. He was standing next to a bunch of bushes munching leaves. “Hey! Mr goat! Jake said in a not quite enough voice. “Keep it down,” the goat said, “I'm not supposed to be able to speak dog. Remember?” “I got excited. I'm sorry!” Jake explained what happened. ”We want to teach that mean old farm dog a lesson! Will you help us?” Winston asked. “For sure!” The goat replied. The goat was happy to help and, once the word got around, so were all the other animals. “What’s the plan?” The goat asked. “Well, we’re still working on that. We’ve never been to a farm before. The truth is we’re city dogs. What can we do here?” Winston asked. “I know just the thing.” A voice from the back of the hen house said. Out walked Big Red. He was the rooster that had chased off Willard the day before. “Sorry about chasing you. I thought you were like that mean farm dog. I have to listen to him complain everyday because he doesn’t want to get manure all over his paws. We can fill that big tub with manure and put it on the balcony of the barn. I’ll lure him over. I’ll tell him that fox has been chasing one of my girls. When he comes to look, you dump it on his head!” “That’s the best idea I ever heard!” Jake said with a big grin on his face. The barnyard erupted with cheers. Now to put the plan into action. The boys pulled a large wash tub up the stairs to the balcony. All the animals help bring manure to fill it. They were all excited to see the farm dog finally get his. The rooster went and found the farm dog and gave him a note. He didn’t want the farm dog to figure out he could speak dog. The note read, “That foxy has been chasing misty again. We need you to figure out how he’s getting in here. I think it’s around the barn.” The two walked towards the barn. The farm dog had his head down smelling for the fox. Everyone was on the edge of their seats. As the farm dog walked to the barn door and under the balcony. Jake, Willard and Winston pushed the tub over dumping wet nasty manure all over the farm dog’s head. Luckily the family had been outside making a video and captured the whole thing on film. The barnyard erupted in laughter. “That serves you right for tricking us and calling the dog catcher!” Willard exclaimed. “What? I didn’t call the dog catcher. He lives on the next farm.” The farm dog said. “Oh, my bad,” Willard said “But you still deserved that. My tail still hurts from that bull. You hurt everyone’s feelings when you make them look stupid. Why do you think no one will learn to speak dog?” The farm dog hadn’t realized how his pranks had affected all the other animals in the barnyard. “I’m sorry guys. I just thought it was funny and didn’t mean anything bad by it. Please forgive me.” To the farm dog’s surprise everyone in the barnyard said in unison and in perfect dog, “We forgive you!” Now the farm dog and all the other barnyard animals could be friends. Jake, Willard and Winston made their way back to the farm house with a sense of satisfaction and a really big appetite. Hopefully their next adventure will be as rewarding to them as this one was.
