Compassionless Heart

Compassionless Heart

A Poem by Mason Rayburn
"

My heart enjoys attaching itself to women whether they're single or not. Such a compassionless heart to desire a woman despite her being taken. Good thing I'm the one calling the shots.

"
Crude exterior of hatred clear
Of breaking apart there is no fear
Like a wedge creating space
Silhouette of broken heart is traced
This heart of mine has no compassion
Animosity and teeth a-gnashin
Prioritizing love instead of peace
This treacherous heart will never cease
Calloused pursuit of things desired
Despite the severance that is required
Why must I have this heart's reigns?
All it does is bring me pain
Taken loves are all that's desired
All I want: this heart to fire
