Flood Gates of the Mind

Flood Gates of the Mind

A Poem by Mason Rayburn

Flooding

My mind is flooding

Submerged in the troubled waters of thought

There are flood gates

Behind them, insanity lurks

It lies in wait

Waiting for the flood gates to free it

It lusts

Insanity lusts for my mind

It wants my mind for itself

Insanity wants to take control

My flood gates cannot hold forever

Like switches

The events of my life are switches

Slowly

Slowly I feel my flood gates lowering

Each inch excites insanity more

It is excited

Because it knows its time is near

Will nothing keep my flood gates closed?
