Love is Silent

There's a reason it's cliche.

 

I could say so many things to you
That you already know.

“Baby, I love you.
Our love is true.

I think you’re beautiful
And your body’s wonderful.

I want you forever
No matter the endeavor.

I hope you feel the same
And feel this lasting flame.”

But only people who are uncertain
Speak these words to you.

Saying “I love you” is reassurance
To make sure it’s true.

Author's Note

The idea for this popped into my head a while ago, but the inspiration didn't come until today. I don't know what my inspiration was, but my muse was probably floating around somewhere. For me, I hate it when people say "I love you". I hear it so much, it's lost its charm. Of course, people think differently, but this is just my opinion.

Its very true. "love" is one of those weird things no body really defines the same, and everyone takes those words really personally. and it is an important question, and one that's rather impossible to answer

i know what you mean. it's not just "i love you," either--beautiful, truth, innocent, child, etc.--have had their varnish worn away. they're not as meaningful as they used to be.
