Feel

Feel

A Poem by Emma Grace Tennyson
"

Written but minutes ago.

"

It's more than just the sounds together

Melodic tones are surface details
Feel it, breathe it, watch those who do it
Beauty pours from limb to string

And when I'm barely hanging on
My weighty heart brought forth by song
Those strings, those few electric wires
Stirring love and starting fires

Desperate fingers grasping threads
Slipping, plucking, chords and notes
This hollow body is alive
What chaos will begin within?

Simultaneous joy and despair
Repeating passion thick and rare
Oh, overwhelming weight on me
Fill me up or let me be

Sigh and flex, hiss and moan
Express, create, and be inspired
Troubled lives cause weary minds
Hold this fear, this drive to play

I feel what you are feeling
Your mind confused and reeling
But I've not felt what you felt
Can't match the pain under your belt

And now a burning glow is starting
Now the crowd can't risk departing
Feel and breathe, unite as one
Finish what you have begun

And now I see you singing, screaming
Our bodies yearn, our souls are steaming
Preach your love or claim your hate
As we all pray for instant fate

In this moment soft and harsh
Understand why you are here
How can you help but feel it?
How can you not believe?

One last serene, climactic note
I feel us rise, I feel us float
Feet lift the floor and land as one
We've finished what we have begun

Emma, this is absolutely beautiful. I loved the imagery that was produced while I was reading this. I can see alot of people commenting on the imagery which shows you're a good descriptive writer. :) Well done!

Thank you Sye! That means a lot!
Beautifully written, it flows and the imagery's nice. Overall, nothing wrong with it, this impressed to be honest; makes me wonder where I'm going as a writer. Would love to read more of your poems.

I have answered your read request, and like the ones before it, this one did not disappoint. I'm going to look again in a minute to see if you have any stories, (I can't remember if you do,) or the like that match the quality of your poetry. If it does, then I will be quite miffed, because then this unofficial title I've claimed for myself: 'The Greatest Writer Ever,' would be incorrect. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem lying to people, but I can't lie to myself. Well I can, but I know I'm lying. At least I usually know when I'm lying to myself. Sometimes there's an odd moment in the early morning when I can trick myself into waking up, because my alarm clock is twenty minutes ahead, but that rarely works anymore. But that's a little personal. And you can't tell anyone that. Now like I was saying, it was a good poem, and I wish I wrote it.
