Things I lost

Things I lost

A Poem by Ricky L. Walters

When I was a child I controlled the weather

And could make it rain with a word from my heart

At my beckon call the sky would fall

And the world could rip apart

And it was an easy pleasure to see the future

Spotting skips in time

Plotting trips and sudden stumbles

Made living life sublime

In the mornings I would move the sun

So it didn't shine in on my head

In the afternoon, in the rising moon

I'd hold my meetings with the dead

When evening fell I'd move the heavens

Galaxies would dance upon my whim

From the sky, the stars I'd pry

And the angels would sing their hymn

Then I made the biggest mistake of my life

I gave it all up for reality

I got older and my heart grew colder

And I lost my taste for fantasy

I could no longer move the mountain

Or cause the earth to quake

All that was left was pragmatic dogma

Bobbing in my wake

But I look back every once in a while

As I make my way down stream

Under the crushing tide of foolish pride

I gaze back upon my dream

"Sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.
:Alice:

of all the things we are taught learning to disbelieve is the hardest to unlearn..
There are so many things that are are not real that we believe and so many things that are real that we do not believe.
I like this because it tells me you have at least believed so with more practice you can again..and thanks for your review...and Happy Birthday..
