Faces

Faces

A Poem by Ricky L. Walters

There isn't any reason to scream your name aloud.
Or search a world of lonely faces for yours amongst the crowd.
Or to peer into the darkness for someone who isn't there.
Or to try and mend, with crippled hands, a love beyond repair.
A waste of time, if you ask me.
But no one ever does.
I'll do the things I've always done.
I'll do them just because.
I'll build my house on love and faith.
Foundation I know to be unsound.
And I'll laugh and have a cigarette
And watch you burn it to the ground.
