Reborn

Reborn

A Poem by Ricky L. Walters

Please excuse me for intruding

But I want some of your time

I don't need much, just a second

to get lost inside your eyes

And in that time I'll dissolve away

and melt into your soul

and become half of what I used to be

A shattered remnant of the whole

Those parts would then be melted down

and formed again anew

reshaped now into something clean

something purified through you

And I'll take this new and shinning self

something I swore I'd never see

and graft it back into my soul

so now it's permanent in me

and I'll share with you that special light

I thought had long since died

and I'll be reborn a better man

standing by your side.

I like the way duality is displayed here and how it gives way to unity and a more whole sense of self.
