Dilly and DallyA Poem by ClemmyJust like Ying and Yang, was fooling around with words...Dilly came first, And had me have a foretaste, Of the goodies he thought best, Were meant to be served to those in bed, I stayed on in bed, Savoring Dilly's brew, A poison that tasted sweet, Even when told I wouldn't spit. Dally came when I woke up, Slowly dragging myself across the room, To find out if I could do anything, Out of a multitude of the things to do, I thought not to, Because Dally said to wait, And assimilate the breakfast served by Dilly, Before long I was late to do anything. This went on for few more days, On and on till weeks elapsed, Months flew by and then a year, Reason spoke but I turned a deaf ear, I was accompanied everywhere I went, By faithful old buddy fear, To success he never wanted me near, And today my eyes are so filled with tears, Crying over the opportunities swallowed up, By Dilly and Dally my self proffessed friends. Today I look for them they are so far, Pretending to love some poor unsuspecting soul, Lavishing them in their crippling love to stay, Sleep and postpone chores and work, Till time flies, opportunities go by, I heard a mother whisper to another, That her child's father, Had too much weight because he kept, Listening to Dilly and Dally, As they pinned him to his armchair, About going to the gym issue, they refused him to, Ah, I thought about Jim's issue too, Who missed a business opening, When he slept and said "I will do it later", Courtesy of Dilly and Dally. Friends and fellow townspeople, I hereby announce, Today the public's number one enemy, Dilly Dallying, Accompanied by their unreasonable twin sisters Silly and Sallying, And their cousins, Fear and Heresy, Please do away with these, And adopt today, Because, everyone's been these two's victim, How many missed a bus because of them? Many How many missed job interviews because of these two, Plenty, And how many had their spouses very angry? Because of the lies whispered by Dilly-Dally, The doctor closed up before you got there, The tickets for your favorite show sold out, You lost so much, Because of so much, Done to you by these two, And as such, Today I say, Get rid of them, And Do it now!
