Love You In Cowardice

The friendzone...enough said

I get light in my head whenever I think of you

As feelings just well up inside, I'm at a loss for what to do

I remember days together we spent under God’s sun

We had made love for hours til’ we became as one

Those nights we'd lie together, simply talking until the morn.

It always felt more magical cuddled

‘neath the covers keeping each other warm...

But that's all a fantasy future in my mind

Because reality's not quite so kind

Because I love you like the wind

Felt but never heard or seen

I love you creepily like a stalker

Counting the lashes on your eyes as you sleep

I love you like vampires love their prey

Knowing their blood type before they do, longing to drink deep

I love you blasphemously, feeling like God, like I own the world

Only ironically, like the devil, can't give it to you

I love you a little too much, like a heroin addict, I get a rush

But also I love you in cowardice, unable to tell you how I feel

No, not unable, but refusing to do so

I love you in cowardice, wanting a hug but contenting myself with hi5s

I love you in cowardice, being able to quote every word you've ever said to me, but never saying it

I love you in cowardice, knowing so much about you, but divulging so little

 

I love you in cowardice, knowing so much about you, but not nearly enough, not nearly as much as I'd like

I love you in cowardice, knowing you might like me but, I know for all your shyness you need to be the man

I love you in cowardice, settling for so little, when I want so much more

I love you...too much to compromise your comfort zone

And til' you make that move

Til' the day we can make love for hours and become one

Or just talk til' the morn under God’s sun

And cuddle magically…

I will love you in cowardice, for there's bravery in my settling for friendship...

wow, this was amazing. Very well thought out. The beginnings of this poem sounds like one I have concerning love lost. The last line was quite profound. There are many other lines I like but the one of the ones that stood out is " I love you too much to compromise your comfort zone" I dont know but it feels like a poem someone might write about me :) especially in the line "I love you in cowardice, knowing you might like me but, I know for all your shyness you need to be the man" .... good stuff Tatyana I am glad you requested that I read this one.
