Amorous Shell

Amorous Shell

A Poem by JustCate
"

They say it takes more muscles

to frown than to smile.

I’ve found this to be true.

It took a lot of energy

to keep my love inside,

where I thought it would be safe.

Coated in a cold armourous shell.

But when I let go just a little,

and let some of my light shine through

The radiance came easily.

I didn’t know that it didn’t matter

if I was rejected for my luminance.

Because when a soft open heart is denied,

the pain is not my own.
