VicesA Poem by Indoor DownpoursI'm staring at the face in the mirror Glossy tears roll down the glass I'm shrouded in smoke, and I'm drowning in alcohol Embodying the only vices that bring comfort to my soul And you're laying in his bed He's helping you take off your dress Light the candles and close the blinds You're all alone. All this time I thought I knew you well But I guess it seems I don't know you at all It's not like you to make love out of your lies I've got nothing left to say but "Go to Hell." And I'll keep everything inside And you'll go chasing hearts at night And we'll both find ourselves alone, And we're too stubborn to even cry So I'm downing every pill I find All the better if it keeps you out of mind Yeah, I'll be fine. I love you until the Earth forgets to spin. And I'll lie to us both, and say I hate you in the end. And when I do, I think of how this could've been different. But we won't ever change, and I won't ever trust again. I'm staring at the moonlit night, Counting stars above the city lights And I wish that you would say goodbye again So that maybe you would change your mind. But you love wearing shades at night You don't see anything above the sky Just the painted yellow lines Along the road that you'd leave behind And I'll keep everything inside And you'll go chasing hearts at night And we'll both find ourselves alone, And we're too stubborn to even cry So I'm downing every pill I find All the better if it keeps you out of mind Yeah, I'll be fine. © 2014 Indoor Downpours |
