UntitledA Poem by Indoor Downpours
We've waited a lifetime to watch the sun set.
To hide our scars in the darkness. But don't get too loud, you might wake the dead. Sometimes this is as good as it gets. I guess I get a little moody sometimes. But you can blame it on the way things go. We're swallowing this summer down our throats. And spitting it up on bathroom floors. Don't you remember the way things were? Playing games at the house next door. And watching all these pop stars lose their steam We never thought we'd end up like them. Now we're watching our souls run free. They flee our lips and they leave so quickly. As we kiss our deaths on the patio As if it's all we've got. I don't know what to think about it anymore. Every word we say, we've said before. Can you see your face staring back at you? I look up at the moon at night And I feel so far away I wonder if someone feels the same way Peering through the blackness of space. I see a man on a street corner And he looks nowhere but inside His head is full of lows and highs And he walks aimlessly with nowhere in mind Then he disappears into a crowd of people All heading somewhere, with someone in their thoughts And I depart and head on past But I don't feel so good anymore. © 2014 Indoor Downpours |
