Minds Like Hammers, Hands Like NailsA Poem by Indoor DownpoursA song I wrote for a friend and his band.I'm waiting for the day to come When we just say no to growing up Spend a little less time catching up on news And wearing out the soles of another man's shoes I'm waiting on you to say That we could try to make it back To where we used to be, we'll cover our tracks And we could learn to keep our hormones in check But it's not that easy is it? When you get that close to somebody You don't know exactly what or how to feel Isn't it surreal? But would you take it all back for a day or so? To regain control of the conscience that you abandoned by the road? Or would you look me in the eyes the way you have for all these years And still mean it the same way? Do we ever change? I'm waiting for the day to come When I finally know where it is that I want to go Instead of crossing off colored lines on a fading map This ain't the life of a rolling stone Just the product of complacency between a rock and a hard place And honest to God, you're the only one keeping me on my feet Waking me up to a silver lining rather than living on the street But would you take it all back for a day or so? To regain control of the conscience that you abandoned by the road? Or would you look me in the eyes the way you have for all these years And still mean it the same way? Do we ever change? No we don't. © 2014 Indoor DownpoursReviews
