Rainy Nights

Rainy Nights

A Poem by Indoor Downpours

These rainy nights keep me awake
Like a cold shower through the window.
The water cleanses my soul and I toss and turn
Just like the night before.
I guess nothing ever changes.
But you're beautiful
And that won't ever change.
Nirvana creeps from behind the curtains when you enter the room.
Enlightenment waltzes across my skin when I kiss your smile.
Time is just a word. So please just stay a while.
There's nothing for us outside of these four walls.
Life and death in a mindless fistfight,
Continuing to struggle to turn out the lights
All that I want is to shine so bright on you.
And blind you from this cold dark world
Shining like a Pharoah dressed in gold
Capturing your eyes with every word.
There's so much time to kill the discouragement inside.
Feel your blood rush, defiant floodgates.
Let your conscience and your problems run away.
We could be anything we ask for, just close the door.
And stay awake all night as the rain pours.
