And You Will Never Know

And You Will Never Know

A Poem by Meesh

And you will never know how my heart beat, how it beat,

when I witnessed your perfection and hoped one day we would meet.

Then we did, and my heart went, but I know not what it meant;

I was oblivious because I’d never been in love before;

Because I’d never been in love before.

And I doubt that you will ever understand, understand,

how deeply I regretted having courage naught to ask:

I was nervous - in a whirl - over such a pretty girl,

and I’m pretty sure I thought that I would never stand a chance;

I thought that I would never stand a chance.

And you will never know the way I felt, way I felt,

at that millionth time I saw you for the first time in my life.

I was speechless - so sublime - and my heart beat out of time,

for I’d never seen such beauty in my whole entire life;

For I’d never seen such beauty in my life.

And my heart: you’ll never know just how it burned, how it burned

when I saw you with someone and realized it wasn’t me,

and not a thing had gone as planned; it was not I who held your hand,

and from that moment forth, I knew it would be nothing but a Dream,

and yes, it has been nothing but a Dream.

And frankly, you will never know how scared, know how scared

I am to write this poem about how much I care for you.

You may not like the words it bore, but I do not care anymore,

for no longer will I keep my feelings bound within my heart;

No more will they be bound within my heart.

And you will never know how much it meant, much it meant,

when you smiled, and you laughed, and were always who you are.

When you listened, and you heard, and you took in every word;

More than once you proved me wrong when I believed that no one cared;

Proved me wrong when I believed that no one cared.

Through these years, so many things have come and gone, come and gone,

yet through it all, I know of one thing that will stay a fact:

No matter which way our paths bend, our Friendship, it will never end,

and I will be there for you more than you will ever know -

I’ll be there even if you never Know.

Meesh, I think you are minstrel. Compliment. A rare trait in a poet. I have images of your with guitar singing us through our travails. Another great write.

This needs to put to music and sung. Captures the agony of a young man who thinks he has little chance with a pretty girl.
