Ribbon

Ribbon

A Poem by NewtSc
"

This poem is based off my mental illnesses, mainly depression, and every single stanza includes a metaphor.

"
Journeys, from high and low
From the soft rainforests
To the mountains high with snow

A ribbon;
A lifeline

Rivers raging with power and wrath
And forests, full of birdsong and peace

Journeys,
Through stone
Through clouds

A paintbrush, swirling across a blank canvas
Leaving dozens of colors in its wake
Or a cat, finding its way home
After a well-due storm.

Clocks, ticking past the minutes
Until they don't

A lamp turning on in the darkness
After a long day

Perhaps this is a ribbon
Perhaps this is a lifeline

Somehow I added a Harry Potter reference in the second to last stanza. Wow
