Moonlit LoveA Story by Michael KnightMy second short story
The water looks beautiful tonight. The moonlight sheds its self
among the water giving it a nice distorted white plane. I thought to
myself, it feels good to be out, out of the house that is. I am "out and
about" as they would say. And now I am here at the beach, cold wind
filtering through my skin going up and down my spine.
"The water looks beautiful tonight don't you think?" The woman said. "I disagree." The man said abruptly "...well...care to explain yourself mister?" The woman said, surprised by his comment. "It's not me explaining, were just not talking the right form of being." "Ooooook Socrates... Since we are here I might as well get to know you, I might for Christ sake, I feel like I am in a book or something and you are disobeying the rules of your character." The woman had her own share of philosophical statements, trying also to confuse the man. The man did not flinch. Seems to him as if he just disregarded her statement. Just the man and the woman were alone on the beach. Both had been given notes to make this appearance...tonight. They were told just to stare at the ocean with each other and await further instructions further into the night. They were both promised something they have always been yearning all their lives. Besides, both had been dropped of by people who know where they are at all times. Just waiting for further notice on anything, anyone. He's being too quiet for my own good. Is this a trap? I gotta remain calm, and just remember he is in the same predicament as me...God why wont he talk?!?! its been almost a hour now "You shouldn't be so impatient my dear, its not your style" The man said very calmly. "EXCUSE ME?!?! Who the hell ar..." "Shhhhhhhh" The man puts his finger on her lips. "You wanted to talk right?" The man said as he focused his body towards her. The silhouettes of their bodies inches apart, the fine light of the ocean breaks right through them as they can see each others eyes for the first time. "We are total strangers, and yet we are alike, we came here to seek some sort of thrill or fulfillment to our desires. Which sounds like something out a story or some tv show but I think I know why we are here... My name is Jack. Whats yours?" he said politely She was hesitant, but figured what the hell? the guy was right, I am looking for something and he might just be the ticket. "Virginia" she said with a small smile ****************************************************************** Jack and Virginia talked for hours, the ocean seemed to be feeding the night, making it last longer and longer. Flirting, jokes and sad stories dominated their chats. Both had a mutual attraction starting to buildup. They left that beach that night together and decided to go on a couple of dates. A period of 4 months go by, they, getting to know each other. Jack is a widowed man living alone, working as a author. Virginia is a nurse at a local hospital and enjoys companionship a lot. They go on a dinner date. "Virginia, I have something to say..." "Wait...I do too Jack" "Ok...ladies first then" "No you go first, I'm kinda in suspense now" Virginia said smiling looking into Jack's eyes "Well me too! haha!...Well I have a compliment for you..., as I told you my behavior before was a little erratic because of the ex-wife who passed away and ever since then and I was even afraid to get close to any woman...even physically! When the notes that were given to us that night on the beach, I just could not help that some how she would still be alive and I would see her that night... and I did..." "....I am sorry Jack, forgive me... how thats a compliment for me?" She said puzzled. "Well we have been heading on a good road me and you, I might be the only man on planet earth that knows you're the greatest woman on earth. I think about you and your personality and how you are always truthful and and honest with your style of grace that can brighten up even the worse day for someone. I mean you're a nurse, you do these amazing things to save lives and people just take you for granted but what they don't know is that they just met the greatest girl in the world. And the fact that I know its you, makes me the luckiest man on earth." Virginia and Jack exchanged stares. "Is it bad for your to hear something like that" Jack said. Virginia slowly starts to cry, her eyes fill up with water. "No one, has ever said something like that to me...ever." Virginia is trying to hold back her tears Jack stands up from the table sits next to her on the bench, and gives her a nice warm hug. Virginia gives him a kiss...looks down then gives a kiss on Jack's lips, smooth, slow, and sensual they slowing turn it into a make out session. They both exchange looks, both are smiling at each other and Jack says "I hope this is not some fairy tale created by those notes. I feel this, this is real to me, to us" As they get up to leave together,Virginia replies "Well Jack, don't all fairy tales have happy endings?" Jack, holding her hand tightly looks at her and just smiles as they walk together into the night and for the rest of their lives. © 2012 Michael Knight |
