O' Captain, My Captain!

O' Captain, My Captain!

A Poem by Michael Knight
"

My poem to the movie Dead Poets Society

"
Call me that if you dare
Chance does not come in a pair
You teach the values of honor
As we all grow more fonder

We have been jailed by our parents for many years
Unorthodox methods came, like a touchdown and cheers
But not everyone looks through the same lens
As for sure jealously and envy follow our friends

The everlasting theme in the halls is solitude
Your presence brings new wallpaper with our gratitude
As the semester ends so does your reign
Your actions here are forever in fame

Seek out, risk it, take a chance
In return we get courage, integrity and even romance
We became men, and more still to learn
We welcome challenges, and values we shall earn
