Lunatic Fringe

Lunatic Fringe

A Poem by Michael Knight
"

80's song from Red Rider, and this is what came out

"
Rules are meant to be broken
My heart makes mistakes, my blood fills me, my brain hardware
To sustain is to help
To walk away is death

I can feel the dark hands searching for something to cling to
And just pull down ever so hard into the abyss.
I'm not a deliverer, I'm not a defender, forget what you know
I'm just a man whose destiny has been switched to autopilot.

I saved hims hers and thems, I am not a good samaritan, Why medals?
Morals are a way of telling jokes on the battlefield
I have doubts, still to this day
Knowing my hands had the blood of innocence on them.
