It's a Long Road

It's a Long Road

A Poem by Michael Knight

Only one way to go from here,

No celebrations, No victory dance,

No appreciation, No respect.

It's a long road

No use in making stops

they always tear your hopes away

It's hard as hell, every new town

Is lead on to a bad heartache

Each step along the way, I feel I get close to my peace

each new town, each new person, each new love

they are envious of your peace, of your own space

and there begins the battle to survive.

They always strike first

The battles are endless, day in and day out

All to get back my space, my freedom,

Where I am, really.

When I get back to the long road, I wonder,

If this war will go on for as long as this road I walk upon?
