Home Coming

Home Coming

A Poem by Michael Knight

Just ahead, lies a place where I haven't been in such time
Who knows what to expect, I see them on the streets
I see them on cars, and even behind bars.

It seemed like no-mans land, seems ridiculous even coming back
One of them reached out and took my hand, another followed
My lead, the other was really excited.

Walking down the halls, seeing what was once I brought here
Now just erased and long forgotten by time
But knowing it was I, who brought it here
Awakened what was once dead.

It brought joy to the others
A smile to my face,
Atmospheric excitement
And my eventual return to lay down my mark,
A mark so strong, it will stand against the gusts of time.
